Is Biofuel Really The Answer?
In the present day, many countries released regulation to lessen the green house emission. It mandates the emission standard and energy efficiency application. It forces many industries to develop low emission engines. The application of biofuel could help to meet the standard.
Biofuel made from biological resources and it produces less carbon emission than hydrocarbon fuel. But is it really true that biofuel is the answer for clean energy demand? Biofuel could be the most controversial environmental issue. Many people believe that using biofuel in vehicles and industry could lessen the production of green house gas emission and preventing climate change. Since it produce from agricultural recourses, it is believed that biofuel is renewable and safety. Many countries has develop biofuel industry and some of them has gain many success.
In other hand there are many people refuse that biofuel is the right answers. Their argument comes from the fact that the huge biofuel demand leading to agricultural land conversion. It creates threat for natural biodiversity. This conversion also makes the agricultural land become shorter. More over the main sources of biofuel are corn, crude palm oil and sugarcanes. It is leading to food supply decrease and raising the food price. Ironically, most land conversion for biofuel farm comes from deforestation. It creates the argument that the development of biofuel creates more carbon emission. This is a contradiction from early biofuel concept as one way to reduce the emission.
