California could be the greener state in the USA. Since the 1970’s oil crises, the state of California had made a lot of regulation to promote energy efficiency. However, the most ambitious could be the Governor Schwarzenegger’s administration. It released the renewable portfolio standard to promote the clean energy application.
Schwarzenegger’s green California campaign mandates that in 2010, 20% of power energy comes from renewable resources. California also promotes utility efficiency and lowering the green house gas emission. Those regulation not only make the California become the lowest emission producer in America, but it also create many new jobs and business challenges.
The emission regulation makes auto industry develop low emission vehicles. It makes a lot of job position for the research and production of those vehicles. The utility efficiency also creates more increasing jobs for local service industry to upgrade appliances in Californian houses. It also helps a lot of Californian families to get less electricity bill. However, the biggest jobs come from green power industry. There are remarkable increase in solar and wind electricity industry. It creates small industries that produces solar cell chips or wind turbines, to huge solar plants. The high demand of home used solar cell and turbine generator also increase traditional green jobs such as solar cell installation.
